Meta Ads for E-commerce and Apparel: Realistic ROAS Targets (2026)

Short answer: the median Meta Ads ROAS for apparel and accessories brands was 2.24x in the year to July 2026, with a median CPM of $13.25 and click-through rate of 2.44%. Lifestyle and boutique brands sat at 2.04x, across 40,000+ brands tracked by Triple Whale (Triple Whale). A realistic target for your store depends on your margin. At a 50% gross margin you break even at 2.0x, so the median apparel brand is only just profitable on first purchases.

Setting a realistic ROAS target for your store

Gross margin Break-even ROAS Compared with the apparel median (2.24x)
60% 1.67x Comfortably profitable at the median
55% 1.82x Profitable at the median, with a thin buffer
50% 2.00x Only just profitable at the median
40% 2.50x Loses money at the median on first purchases

If you’re below the median, the fix is rarely “more budget”. It’s usually one of the levers below.

What moves e-commerce ROAS on Meta

  • Average order value. Bundles, “complete the look” offers and free-shipping thresholds raise revenue per purchase without raising ad cost.
  • Catalog and retargeting ads. Showing people the exact product they viewed usually returns far more than cold prospecting. Run both, and report them separately.
  • Creative built for the scroll. Try-on videos, UGC-style reviews and before/after styling usually beat polished studio shots for apparel.
  • Market choice. The same budget buys more reach in the UK ($11.81 CPM) than in the US ($16.08), according to Lebesgue’s 2026 data. See ad costs by country.
  • Tracking. A properly set up Pixel plus Conversions API means Meta learns from real purchases. Broken tracking makes ROAS look worse and trains the algorithm on bad data.
  • Returns. Apparel ROAS in Ads Manager doesn’t subtract returns. Track net revenue so your real ROAS doesn’t surprise you.

From my own campaigns

  • Grand Wazir (premium tableware and lifestyle): a verified 9.28x ROAS on Meta Ads during its launch from zero, roughly four times the 2.25x Home & Garden median. It came from one clear audience, creative built for that audience and a clean tracking setup. See the Grand Wazir case study.
  • Snow Turbo: 26 US purchases at $34.69 each and 12 Canadian purchases at $24.55 each, with the two markets run separately so each had its own budget.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good ROAS for clothing brands on Facebook ads?

The median for apparel and accessories was 2.24x in Triple Whale’s data for the year to July 2026. A good ROAS for your brand is one comfortably above your break-even point (1 ÷ gross margin), which is 2.0x at a 50% margin.

What is the average CPM for e-commerce Facebook ads?

For apparel and lifestyle brands, the median CPM was $13.25. Health and wellness was highest at $21.80 and sports and outdoors lowest at $12.05 (Triple Whale). By country, US e-commerce CPM averaged $16.08 (Lebesgue).

Why is my e-commerce ROAS lower than the benchmark?

The most common causes are a low average order value, tracking gaps in the Pixel or Conversions API, creative that doesn’t match the audience, and mixing retargeting and prospecting results together.

Does Meta Ads ROAS include returns?

No. Ads Manager reports purchase value at the time of sale. For apparel, where returns are common, track net revenue after returns to see your true ROAS.
