Finance and insurance is the most expensive at $0.86, real estate sits at $0.55, and arts and entertainment is the cheapest at $0.34 (WordStream by LocaliQ, via Coupler.io). Why your CPC will not match the table
These are averages across thousands of accounts. Your own click cost moves with the campaign objective, the creative, the audience size and the season. Traffic campaigns are built to get clicks, so they are the cheapest way to buy a visit. Lead and sales campaigns ask Meta to find people likely to act, which usually costs more per click.
One example: WordStream’s 2025 data for lead campaigns in home improvement shows a $2.23 click and $41.26 per lead (as reported by AdManage), against $0.63 for the same industry on traffic campaigns above.
CPC is not the number to manage
A cheap click that never turns into an enquiry is the most expensive kind. Watch cost per lead or cost per purchase first, then click-through rate, then CPC. If CPC is high but cost per lead is healthy, leave it alone.
- CPC high, CTR low: the creative or offer is not earning attention. Test a new hook.
- CPC low, leads weak: you are buying curiosity. Tighten the offer and the form.
- CPC rising over weeks: creative fatigue. Refresh the ads.
What this means for your budget
Take your industry CPC, divide your monthly budget by it, and you get a rough click count. Then apply your own landing page or form conversion rate to estimate leads. The cost per lead by industry guide does that step for you, and the minimum budget guide shows what is needed to get out of the learning phase.
