CPM: what it costs to be seen

CPM is the price of 1,000 impressions. It depends mostly on the country you target. Measured e-commerce data from Lebesgue shows the US around $16, the UK around $12, Germany around $9 and Poland around $5.50. Read Facebook and Instagram ad costs by country.

CPC: what it costs to get a visit

Traffic campaigns average $0.60 per click, ranging from $0.34 in arts and entertainment to $0.86 in finance. Lead and sales campaigns cost more per click. See CPC by industry.

Cost per lead: what a lead costs

The 2026 US average is $27.39 per lead, from $12.30 in career services and $13.74 in real estate to $50.91 in beauty and $61.56 for dentists. Home services sit in the middle: HVAC leads average about $45. Read cost per lead by industry, real estate and HVAC, roofing and plumbing. To bring it down, follow the 7-step guide.

ROAS: what an ad earns back

Across 40,000+ brands tracked by Triple Whale, median Meta ROAS ran from 1.13x to 2.35x. A good ROAS is any figure comfortably above your own break-even point, which is 1 divided by your gross margin. See ROAS benchmarks by industry and e-commerce apparel ROAS.

Budget and management costs

At the average $27.39 per lead, giving one ad set 50 leads a week takes about $196 a day. If that is too much, run fewer ad sets. See the minimum budget guide. For the cost of hiring help, read Meta Ads management fees and freelancer vs agency.

From my own campaigns

One luxury tableware campaign returned a verified 9.28x on ad spend with 67 purchases. Benchmarks tell you what is normal; your tracking tells you what is true. See Meta Ads management and how to report Meta Ads results.

How to use these Meta ads benchmarks

Benchmarks tell you what other advertisers pay. They do not tell you what you can afford. Before you compare your numbers to anyone else’s, work out your own limits with two simple formulas.

Your break-even ROAS

Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by your profit margin before ad spend. If your margin is 40%, break-even ROAS is 2.5x (1 ÷ 0.40). At a 25% margin it is 4x. Any ROAS below that number loses money, however good it looks next to the industry median above.

Your maximum cost per lead

Multiply what a new customer is worth in profit by the share of leads that become customers. For example, if a customer brings in $1,000, your margin is 30% and 1 in 5 leads buys, the most you can pay for a lead is $1,000 × 0.30 × 0.20 = $60. These figures are an example, so use your own.

Once you know both numbers, the benchmarks above show whether your costs are realistic or whether the problem is your offer, your tracking or your landing page. If your cost per lead is too high, see how to lower cost per lead on Facebook ads.
