Meta Ads Management Fees in 2026: What You Should Pay

Short answer: Meta Ads management usually costs 10% to 20% of monthly ad spend at an agency (WebFX, via Superscale), or a flat retainer. Freelancers bill about $15 to $40 an hour, median $25 (Upwork). For a small business spending $1,000 a month on ads, that is roughly $100 to $200 in agency fees, or $250 to $800 if you hire a freelancer for 10 to 20 hours.

How Meta Ads management is priced

Model Typical price Best for
Percentage of ad spend 10% to 20% of monthly spend Larger budgets that scale
Flat monthly retainer Agency average $5,108 a month for social media marketing projects (Clutch, not Meta-specific) Brands with several channels
Freelancer hourly $15 to $40 an hour, median $25 (Upwork) Small budgets, one specialist
Agency hourly $25 to $49 typical, $100 to $149 for North American agencies (Clutch) Project work

Sources: Superscale, which cites WebFX, Clutch and Upwork. These are secondary figures, so check the original sources before you budget around them.

Management fees are only part of the cost. For the organic side, see social media marketing packages and pricing.

Why percentage pricing hurts small budgets

Typical small business social ad spend is $100 to $450 a month (WebFX). Ten to twenty percent of that is $10 to $90, which no agency will take on. That is why small advertisers are often quoted a flat minimum that can be larger than the ad budget itself. A flat monthly fee or a freelancer avoids that trap.

What I charge

My packages are flat monthly plans: $300, $500 or $1,000 a month. Meta and Google Ads management with a weekly report is included in the $1,000 plan. Ad spend is paid directly to Meta, so you always control the budget. See pricing or the Meta Ads management page.

What to check before you pay anyone

  • Who touches the account. Ask for the name of the person who builds and monitors your campaigns.
  • What is included. Creative, tracking setup, reporting and landing page advice are often extras.
  • Contract length. Month to month is safer when you are testing.
  • Account ownership. The ad account and pixel must stay in your name.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire someone to run Facebook ads?

From about $250 a month for a freelancer working 10 hours, to 10% to 20% of ad spend at an agency, and into thousands a month for a full retainer. Flat plans from $300 a month are common for small businesses.

Do Meta Ads managers charge a percentage of ad spend?

Many agencies do, typically 10% to 20%. Freelancers more often charge hourly or a flat monthly fee.

Is ad spend included in the management fee?

No. Ad spend is paid directly to Meta. The fee only covers the work.

What is a fair Facebook ads management fee for a small business?

For ad spend under $1,000 a month, a flat fee or a freelancer is usually fairer than a percentage, because 10% to 20% of a small budget is too little for an agency to take on.
