Quick answer: Social media marketing packages are fixed monthly plans that bundle strategy, content, community replies and reporting. Published prices for small and medium businesses run from about $500 to $3,000 a month for a freelancer and $2,000 to $10,000 or more for an agency, with ad spend extra. My own plans cost $300, $500 and $1,000 a month, month to month, so you can see what each level of volume buys before you commit.

Most package pages list posts and platforms and skip what decides results: who does the work, how fast they reply and whether anyone reads the numbers. Whether you run a small business or a mid-sized one, this guide shows what social media marketing packages cost in 2026, what each price level should include and how to choose one without paying for volume you do not need.
What are social media marketing packages?
A social media marketing package is a monthly plan that covers the recurring work on a brand’s social accounts for one fixed fee. Most include four things:
- Strategy and calendar: who you are talking to, what to post and when.
- Content: posts, carousels, Reels or other short videos, with captions.
- Community management: replies to comments and messages.
- Reporting: what worked, what did not and what happens next.
Higher tiers add paid ads. Ad spend itself is almost always billed separately, straight to the platform. For a line-by-line list of deliverables, see what is included in a social media management package.
How much do social media marketing packages cost in 2026?
Published prices vary widely, because they depend on who does the work and how much is delivered. Two public sources give a useful picture: Sprout Social’s small business packages guide and WebFX’s pricing page.
| Option | Typical monthly price | What you usually get | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY with software | $79 to $400 | Scheduling and analytics tools. You do the work. | Sprout Social |
| Freelancer | $500 to $3,000 | Content creation, scheduling and basic engagement from one person | Sprout Social |
| Agency | $2,000 to $10,000+ | Account manager, strategist, designer and community manager | Sprout Social |
| Large agency packages (example) | $3,150 to $5,100, plus a $4,650 to $7,500 setup fee | Tiered management with required boosted-post spend | WebFX |
Treat these as market context, not a quote. A $4,000 agency package and a $500 freelancer plan can deliver a similar number of posts. What changes is how many people handle your account and how much overhead sits inside the price.
Social media marketing packages for small and medium businesses: what $300, $500 and $1,000 a month buy
These are my current plans. Each one is month to month with 30 days’ notice, and ad spend is paid separately to the platform.
| Plan | Price | What is included | Best for | Price per post |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $300 a month | 12 posts on 2 to 3 platforms, strategy, monthly report | A small business starting or restarting its social media | $25 |
| Growth | $500 a month | 20 posts, 4 Reels, community replies | Brands that need steady reach and fast replies | $25 |
| Performance | $1,000 a month | 30 posts, 8 Reels, Meta and Google Ads, weekly report | Brands that want enquiries or sales from ads | About $33 |
| Elite | Custom | Unlimited content, full ads, weekly strategy calls | Larger brands with several channels | Quoted |
Price per post is the monthly price divided by the posts listed. Higher plans also include Reels, ads and weekly reporting, so it is a rough guide, not the full value.

What a good social media package should include
- A written strategy, not only a posting schedule
- A clear monthly count of posts, Reels and platforms
- Replies to comments and messages, with a stated response time
- A monthly report you can understand, with next steps
- You own the accounts and keep the logins
- Month-to-month terms or a short notice period
- If ads are included, a clear split between the management fee and the ad spend
What is usually not included
Ad spend, paid tools, product photography, video shoots and extra platforms often cost extra. Ask for these in writing before you sign. If ads are part of the plan, ask who owns the ad account and whether tracking sends purchases or leads back to Meta. For ad-side pricing, read Meta ads management fees in 2026 or see the Facebook ads management services page.
How to choose the right package
- Start with the goal. Awareness needs consistent posts and short video. Enquiries and sales need ads with proper tracking.
- Match volume to what you can approve and use. More posts are not better if quality and replies slip. See how often a small business should post.
- Compare deliverables, not the headline price. Divide the price by the posts, then check for replies, reporting and ads.
- Start month to month. Judge the plan on the reports after the first few months. How to judge a social media manager’s results shows what to look at.
Red flags in social media marketing packages
- Guaranteed follower counts or promises of going viral
- Long lock-in contracts with no exit
- Reports that only show likes
- Bought followers, bots or engagement pods
- No access to your own accounts
- Vague deliverables such as “engagement management”
Freelancer or agency package: which fits?
With a freelancer you deal with the person doing the work. With an agency you usually start with an account manager. Agencies suit large budgets and many channels. Freelancers suit small and growing brands that want direct contact and flexible terms. More detail is in freelance specialist vs agency and the freelance social media manager page. If you are still deciding whether to hire at all, read the small business social media management guide.
Results from these plans
- Freedom Fast Solutions (San Diego real estate): views rose from 55.2K to 100.9K and link clicks from 557 to 976. They are now on a weekly retainer.
- Grand Wazir (luxury tableware, Meta Ads): 9.28x ROAS.
- Darson Industries (LinkedIn company page): impressions up 1,083%.
See the details in the case studies. Results depend on the niche, budget and starting point, and nobody can guarantee numbers.
Frequently asked questions
How much do social media marketing packages cost?
Published ranges for small and medium businesses are roughly $500 to $3,000 a month for a freelancer and $2,000 to $10,000 or more for an agency, with ad spend extra. My own plans are $300, $500 and $1,000 a month, month to month.
What is included in a social media marketing package?
Most packages include a content strategy and calendar, a set number of posts and short videos, replies to comments and messages, and a monthly report. Higher tiers add paid ads on Meta and Google.
Are social media marketing packages worth it for small and medium businesses?
They are worth it when you cannot post consistently, reply quickly and read the numbers yourself. If you can do all three, a lighter plan or doing it yourself with scheduling software may be enough.
Does the package price include ad spend?
No. Ad spend is paid directly to Meta, Google or another platform, on top of the management fee.
Should I choose a freelancer or an agency package?
A freelancer suits small and growing brands that want to deal with the person doing the work and keep flexible terms. An agency suits larger budgets that need several channels and a full team. Compare what is delivered each month, not the headline price.
Can I cancel a social media package at any time?
Terms vary by provider. Mine are month to month with 30 days’ notice. Be careful with 6 or 12 month lock-ins when you have not yet seen results.
